Board Game Redesign Process

For this, we had to pick and research a board game and change it to be a new experience. Making sure to add 3 new mechanics and combine them.

I chose the card game Munchkin because I felt like there was a lot of potential for changes in how the game is played. Typically it’s a dnd RPG inspired card game where the players are competing against each other to reach the highest agreed level. It’s also encouraged to backstab, and make alliances, and cheating isn’t exactly discouraged. I felt like there could be more settings and cards to change up the game.

Game Document- Utopia

This was the creation of a game and creating a game design document for it. The game document is a written outline for the development team. Containing text, that describes the game's selling points, target audience, gameplay, level design, story, characters, UI, assets, and concept art.

My game, Utopia, is an adventure game set in two different futuristic societies, one set on a physical plane and the other set on an astral plane. Most of the gameplay is set in this seemingly perfect simulation of reality. The player character lives on the simulation plane and must unravel the mystery connecting the two planes before the glitches, distorting the two planes, take over the Utopian plane and it’s too late. The player's decisions are pivotal to the different endings available, which can result in the fate of the character and potentially everyone also trapped in this limbo plane.
